· Abstract In this study, maleated chitin nanofibers (MCNFs)-poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) composite films were fabricated to evaluate the reinforcement effect of MCNFs to PVA. Maleated chitin nanofibers (MCNFs) were prepared by esterification of α-chitin powder with maleic anhydride and 2 passes grinder treatment. The average diameter of MCNFs was about 10 nm. The PVA-MCNF ,Polyvinyl alcohol/superfine wool powder blend filaments were prepared to improve teh dyeing properties of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) filaments. The average size of superfine wool powder was 2.01 um. SEM microphotgraphs showed good compatibility between superfine wool powder and PVA matrix. The PVA/superfine wool powder blend solution showed good spinningability.

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), a white/yellowish granule or powder, is a stable, non-toxic, and water-soluble polymer. PVA possesses superb film-forming property, and the produced film has excellent adhesion, solvent-resistance, abrasion-resistance, tensile strength, and oxygen barrier. Since PVA possesses both hydrophilic and hydrophobic functional ,col (PEG) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) acting as binders and lubricants only show minor affinity to alumina sur-faces and do not change suspension properties owing to a change in interparticle forces. The more complex inter-actions that can occur when multiple organic species are combined have received little attention in the literature,
